Introduction to Preservation

Description: Preservation has a place in libraries of all types to extend the useful life of the collections and increase accessibility. Introduction to Preservation emphasizes preventive measures and includes information on the elements of a comprehensive preservation program, the nature of library materials, and the mechanisms of deterioration. Discussions will also cover proper care and handling practices, stack maintenance, staff and user education, and library binding. This program will be presented in three two hour sessions. The first session is March 29th, the second is April 5th, and the third is April 12th.
